Before the project began, the backyard layout made access between the home and the pool inconvenient and uneven. The existing grade created drainage concerns, and there was no defined walkway to guide foot traffic safely across the yard. The goal was to create a functional path that handled water properly while also improving the overall look and nighttime usability of the outdoor space.
To address these issues, the area was carefully excavated and a drain line was installed to manage runoff and prevent water from collecting near the walkway. Once drainage was in place, a concrete walkway was poured with clean edges and a gradual step-down design to match the natural slope of the yard. Recessed step lighting was added directly into the concrete, providing subtle illumination without overpowering the surrounding landscape.
The finished result is a smooth, durable walkway that creates a clear connection between the house and pool while enhancing safety and visual appeal. The integrated lighting adds a polished look after dark, and the improved drainage ensures long-term performance. The space now feels intentional, accessible, and well-balanced — delivering both function and a refined outdoor experience.
